Joe's Bar

Current Status: At the moment, we are taking orders and collecting information. On 1 April 2018, we will send your information to Joe Compton who will contact you in April with further direction.

What is it? Joe’s Bar is our 72- hour live coverage of CyCon. It’s our author lounge where authors are welcome to come in, crash, chat, and hang out.

What do I have to do? Register for Joe’s Bar then standby until 1 April 2018. I send your email over to Joe Compton. Throughout CyCon Joe will email you the “join” links on Google Hangouts.

What do I need? A microphone, earbuds/headphones, and a Google Account.

How hard is this? It isn’t if you love to socialize.

What do I have to do? Purchase this event and wait. Joe Compton will contact you 1 April 2018 with further instruction.

Author Trade Show

Current Status: At the moment, we are taking orders and collecting information. On 1 February 2018, we will start building. Anita Stewart (A.F. Stewart) will be contacting you for information.

What is it? Our Author Trade Show is hosted on Goodreads. View our 2017 Showcase.

What do I have to do? Sign up, then enter the Goodreads Fairgrounds. Our volunteers builds you a thread or “booth” in our Fairgrounds on Goodreads where authors are invited to then dress up however they wish.

What do I need? A Goodreads account.

How hard is this? You will need to know your way around Goodreads or have a willingness to learn.

Character Tournaments

Current Status: At the moment, we are taking orders and collecting information. On 1 February 2018, we will begin building this event.We will contact you February 2018.

What is it? We pit characters against each other in a description that win over voters. Voters are given three days to make their choice which character they love the most, and a winner is decided by the end of CyCon.

What do I have to do? Authors have to be ready to write up a winning character card that sells their character. When the time comes (1 February 2018), we will ask you for your “character card.”

What do I need? The will and want to write up a smashing depiction of your character.

How hard is this? It depends on how kind the muse is to you. You just need to be ready to describe your character inside and out.

Book Expo

Current Status: At the moment, we are taking orders and collecting information. On 1 February 2018, we will begin building this event.We will contact you February 2018.

What is it? This is the heart of CyCon. All life revolves around it. This is where readers go. It is a grand list of all (or most) of the books in CyCon.

What do I have to do? You will need to fill out the Book Form as soon as possible. We will need on Book form for every Book Expo you purchased.

In January 2018, be ready to give us your book’s information so we can add it to the showcase. Each book is tagged with the author’s name and all the events the author is participating in. A single book in the Expo, can easily span over half a dozen showcases on the site.

What do I need? A published book and The Book Expo form.

How hard is this? It may take a few minutes of your time.

Story Time

Current Status: At the moment, we are taking orders and collecting information. On 1 February 2018, we will begin building this event. Karina Kantas will contact you February 2018.

What is it? A collection of our narrators sit down and read an excerpt of your published work.

What do I have to do? Sign up. In February 2018, be ready to send our narrators a 700 to 1,000 words excerpt via email.

What do I need? Something you’ve written, published or unpublished.

How hard is this? Authors have reported that the hardest part is deciding which excerpt to send in or write something new!

Mass Giveaway

Current Status: At the moment, we are taking orders and collecting information. On 1 February 2018, we will begin building this event. We will contact you February 2018.

What is it? Brain to Books hosts a vast giveaway. There is a winner for every genre.

What do I have to do? On our last day of CyCon, you will receive an email notifying you of the winner and their information. Then you decide if you want to send the winner(s) something or not.

What do I need? You need something to give away. This can be a book, many books, and/or swag.

How hard is this? You will be responsible for getting your stuff to the winners. You are 100% responsible for shipping, handling, gifting, contacting the winner(s) if you need, and getting your stuff to them in time. (You have until June 2018). Brain to Books does not accept materials and will not award/ship anything on your behalf.

WE DO NOT PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE YOUR GIVEAWAY. THIS ALLOWS AUTHORS TO ADJUST THEIR GIVEAWAYS TO REFLECT THEIR FINANCIAL NEEDS IN APRIL 2018.

"Just Read"

What is it? New for 2018, authors can submit a chapter or an excerpt via email to be posted on the B2BCyCon.com blog entitled “Just Read.”

What do I have to do? Be ready to email us up to 5,000 words to post on our blog.

What do I need to do? You need to have something written.

How hard is this? It isn’t. You just send us your chapter/excerpt.

Nerd Rage

What is it? New for 2018, “Nerd Rage” embraces the open debate for the taboo. Become a word warrior and get your nerd on.

What do I have to do? Be ready to record March 2018.

What do I need to do? You need to have a microphone, headphones/earbuds, and a Zoom account.

How hard is this? It isn’t. Show up ready to argue. This event is pre-recorded. We do not record live.

Panel Discussions

Current Status: At the moment, we are taking orders and collecting information. On 1 February 2018, we will begin building this event.We will contact you February 2018.

What is it? Authors come to a webinar to discuss a range of topics. From World Building, Fantasy, the tech in Science Fiction, creature creation in paranormal, Marvel vs. DC, or how much we hate (or love) Twilight.

What do I have to do? Be ready to come on camera March 2018 and April.

What do I need? You will need a microphone, earbuds/headphones, and a quiet recording environment. Webcam is optional (A number of our authors attend off camera). We use Zoom and Google Hangouts. Both services are free.

How hard is this? This can be complicated depending on your family life and work schedule. All sessions are scheduled months in advance, so you will have ample opportunity to request the time off from work if you need to.

I recommend this event only for anyone who loves talking. This is the perfect cure for the introvert if you looking to socialize.

Cover Wars

Current Status: At the moment, we are taking orders and collecting information. On 1 February 2018, we will begin building this event. We will contact you February 2018.

What is it? It’s a contest between best cover design. Voters select and vote for their favorite book covers.

What do I have to do? In February 2018, be ready to send us your book cover.

What do I need? A book cover, published, or unpublished. DO NOT SEND US YOUR COVER REVEAL FOR THIS EVENT. We publish early and can not guarantee or track when your cover will go live.

How hard is this? It can be hard if you send us a cover too small to use. All covers must be 300 DPI or larger and have dimensions of 1200 x 2500 or larger. We can not work with small covers.

I recommend this event only for authors who have a large file of their book cover.

What is it? From February through April, Kori D. Miller hosts 15 minute interviews on “Back Porch Writer.” SPACES ARE LIMITED.

What do I have to do? After January 2018, you will receive directions to schedule your interview with Kori.

What do I need? A microphone, headphones/earbuds, availability, and a quiet recording environment.

How hard is this? It isn’t if you love to talk.

I recommend this event for anyone eager to get on the radio and talk.

Book Trailers on Display

Current Status: We are now taking orders.

What is it? New for 2018, Book Trailers on Display is just that. We are taking book trailers and composing a playlist on YouTube and on B2BCyCon.com allowing readers to sit back and just watch. Your corresponding book will be presented in it’s own showcase alongside your book.

What do I have to do? Purchase this event and wait. We will contact you 1 February 2017 requesting your YouTube URL.

What do I need to do? You need to have a Book Trailer posted on YouTube. We must have the YouTube URL

How hard is this? Be ready to submit your book trailer in February 2018.

2018 Volunteers

We strongly recommend you have at least one year experience with CyCon before volunteering.

We have one rule at Brain to Books: If you think it, you have to be willing/able to host it.

 

In 2018, Angela will send you a welcome letter including a “what to expect.”
