What is a Genre Scout?

If you’ve ever attended the Brain to Books Cyber Convention, you may have noticed the large number of Fantasy authors at the convention? That is my fault. When I first started Brain to Books, I reached out to my circle of authors. Because I primarily write fantasy, my social circle was made up mostly of fantasy authors. Since the start, Brain to Books has had a massive imbalance of genres. We need to correct this, but alas, I don’t have a reach to other genres. This is where you come in.

A genre scout is someone who sells the convention to other authors in your genre. This selling is year round. Your goal is only one: to get more authors participating and/or volunteering for the Brain to Books Cyber Convention. Website banners and graphics are available for you to post on your site. There is no minimum requirement or limit. You don’t even have to stay within your own genre. While we are looking for more Science Fiction, more romance, more memoir, more general fiction, more YA, we will take anyone from any genre.

Genre Scouts are responsible for:

  1. Reaching out to authors in your own circles regarding the Brain to Books Cyber Convention in April
  2. Doing your best to spread the word and encourage authors (and readers) to join.
  3. Posting the graphics on your site to encourage sign ups (an embed link is available if you are interested)
  4. Everyone is required to advertise the Cyber Convention and Book Expo via social media during the Cyber Convention.
